Recently we bought CuHeNeAr lamps to replace the HeAr lamps that have been used with the Boller & Chivens and Bolitas spectrographs for many years.  On 5 June 2005, I obtained spectra of this lamp with the 300/4.30, 400/9.73, and 1200/26.1 gratings covering the entire optical spectral range.  These lamps have a line density that is very good for the 1200/26.1 grating.  For the 300/4.30 grating, a selection of isolated lines will be necessary.  For the 150 l/mm gratings, an even more careful line selection will be necessary.  Alternatively, the HgAr lamp can be used, which has a much lower line density.

Based upon the 1200/26.1 grating spectra, I compiled a line atlas.  The following table provides plots of different portions of the entire spectrum, with and without line identifications.  I also put together a composite spectra that is calibrated in wavelength (in FITS format; for display in splot/IRAF) as well as a list of lines for Cu, He, Ne, and Ar from the NIST database (http://physics.nist.gov/PhysRefData/ASD/).  The list is in the format used within IRAF as a line list.  In the line list, the lines that were used/identified are indicated.  The dispersion solutions generally had dispersions of less than a sixth of a pixel.

It is a pleasure to acknowledge Felipe Montalvo’s help in collecting these data.
