Notes:
(1) Visual magnitudes and spectral types from The Bright Star Catalogue (1982). See IRTF photometry manual for
above references.
(2) The N and Q mag. of stars with spectral type M are less reliable than earlier spectral types. Avoid using
them if possible.
(3) The Koorneef standards may be of lower quality than the others.
(4) The effective wavelength of the M filter is currently under study, since it appears to be different for the
InSb and Bolometer systems. This is likely a result of the different detector response of these two systems.
The wavelength of 4.8 microns for the M filter is adopted to be consistent with the published magnitudes until such
time that the true effective wavelength of the IRTF M filter is established for both the InSb and Bolometer
systems. Use the Sinton and Tittemore M standards for the InSb and the CalTech M standards with the Bolometer,
since these magnitudes were measured with the InSb and Bolometer, respectively.
(5) The coordinates and proper motions of these stars are known by the IRTF telescope (Xstarcat). You do not
need to know these coordinates at the telescope to observe these stars!
