Credit OAN-SPM in published papers
Based on the text of the Acta 2014-4 del Consejo Interno (February 12th, 2014), it is requested that in the future:
♦ For publications in Spanish:
"Basado en observaciones realizadas en el Observatorio Astronómico Nacional en la Sierra de San Pedro Mártir (OAN-SPM), Baja California, México."
♦ For publications in English:
"Based upon observations carried out at the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional on the Sierra San Pedro Mártir (OAN-SPM), Baja California, México."
Any publication or press release using RATIR instrument data shall contain the following acknowledgment:
"The data used in this paper were totally or partially acquired using the RATIR instrument, funded by the University of California (UC) and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), on the 1.5 meter telescope at Observatorio Astronómico Nacional, San Pedro Mártir, operated and maintained by OAN-SPM and IA-UNAM."
In addition, the publication should refer to the origianl text in your article that best describes RATIR.
For other instruments, it is important to mention the instrument that has been used and the name of its makers.
You should explicitly acknowledge the telescope operators involved in your observations:
"We thank the daytime and night support staff at the OAN-SPM for facilitating and helping obtain our observations."
Note that the astronomy journals have adopted a line at the end where you can list observatories, telescopes, etc. used to do your research. For example:
"Facilities: Baade (Magellan) telescope (LCO), Mayall Telescope (KPNO), Keck Telescope, VLA, ALMA, OAN-SPM, etc."
or:
"Partially based on observations collected at the Observatorio Astronómico Nacional at San Pedro Mártir, B.C., Mexico"
