POLIMA 2 (dual beam optical polarizer)
POLIMA 2 is an improved version of image polarimeter POLIMA. This new instrument uses a Savart plate as a dual beam polarization analyzer which allows simultaneous measurement of two orthogonal linear polarization states.
POLIMA 2 is an improved version of image polarimeter POLIMA. This new instrument uses a Savart plate as a dual beam polarization analyzer which allows simultaneous measurement of two orthogonal linear polarization states.
The instrument has a 3.42 arcmin field of view free of vignetting and has a filter wheel (U, B, V, R, I and Halpha bands).
In addition, the polarization analyzer can be removed from the optical path (without unmounting the equipment of the telescope), allowing for imaging (without polarization) with a field of view of 8.39 arcmin. This instrument was built within the framework of collaboration between UNAM and Universidad Iberoamericana.
