POLIMA (Polarizador óptico de imagen)

polimaPOLIMA uses a Glan-Taylor prism which is a calcite cube that has been cut in half and assembled so that one of the two beams in the prism is eliminated. The polarization axis of the prism can be oriented relative to the plane of the image in one degree intervals. Besides the polarization analyzer, the system also has a metal head that contains a shutter, a wheel of optical filters, and a moving mechanism.

MEXMAN filter wheel

mexmanThis system has two filter wheels 8 positions each, allowing one to use a total of 14 filters (two positions are usually empty). This system can be used both with the 2.1m telescope and 0.84m telescope since there are especially designed mounts for each telescope.

PUMA Fabry-Perot Óptico

pumaThe PUMA interferometer is used in the Cassegrain focus of the 2.1m telescope in its configuration f/7.5. It consists of a focal reducer (collimator and camera lens) and designed to allow integration by a positioner in the collimated beam of various dispersive optical elements (interferometer, prisms, microlenses arrays, etc.). Currently it operates with a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer (IFPB) ET-50 Queensgate and its parallelism device.

Filter wheel  (a.k.a. Italiana)

italianaThe filter wheel system "Italiana" (simply called "Italian wheel"), manufactured in Italy for the Brera Observatory, has two filter wheels, one with ten filter positions and another with nine (including one position for a polarizer). Usually, the filters are fixed and therefore are not interchangeable with other available in the observatory. This instrument is installed only on the 2.1m telescope.

Bolitas spectrograph

Small Boller & Chivens medium resolution spectrograph  (a.k.a. Bolitas) model 26767, was acquired in 1974 for use in the Cassegrain focus of the 0.84m telescope. It is an instrument which is equipped with all the fittings of a standard spectrograph needed to produce stellar and nebular spectra. It has a  dispersive element, slits of different sizes, comparison lamp systems, masks, shutter, collimator, and camera. It is used for projects ranging from the spectral classification of variable stars, the study of symbiotic stars and the spectroscopic classification of standards stars among others.
